MORE VERSATILE SURVEY SERVICES WITH A NEW GYRO INSTRUMENT FROM KATI OY

Kati Oy has added a new survey instrument to its range in summer 2010. The latest device is a SPT GyroTracer which, unlike the so-called MEMS gyros generally used in the Nordic countries, can independently determine its position with reference to the geographic North Pole. In other words, the instrument has a built-in North-seeking gyrocompass. Magnetic rocks does not interfere surveying, which makes is possible to survey in all rock environments and also inside casings. This instrument is a good option for all situations, but particularly for deep holes. It is also recommended for surveying wedged bore holes by the manufacturer, Stockholm Precision Tools in Sweden.

When using a North-seeking gyro, each survey point is measured independently of the previous readings. Further, no collar azimuth is required for a GyroTracer, as the device can detect it automatically. These factors enhance the reliability of survey results. The device has thus long been used in the oil and gas industries.

Kati Oy has conducted deviation surveys for over 20 years. We offer deviation survey services for such sectors as mining companies and other boring contractors. Companies engaged in the minerals industry can now order surveys conducted with a North-seeking gyro from Kati Oy.
